Workshop on high-pressure mineral physics and magmatic petrology (18-22 sept. 2023)

This inaugural workshop aims to introduce high-pressure research to Masters and Ph.D. students in Earth and planetary sciences. This workshop may also be useful to students in materials science, physics and chemistry.

The workshop comprises lectures covering the basic principles of high-pressure mineral physics and magmatic petrology. Participants will gain hands-on training in high-pressure techniques (piston-cylinder, multi-anvil and diamond anvil cell), in situ measurements (electrical and thermal conductivities, elastic-wave velocity) and sample characterization techniques (EPMA, RAMAN, FTIR, SEM-FIB).
