L’étude des Séismes Profonds au Laboratoire

L’enregistrement de la micro-sismicité à haute pression et haute température dans ces expériences confirme une origine possible des énigmatiques séismes qui se produisent à plus de 400 km de profondeur, dans le domaine où les roches fluent de manière visqueuse.

Formation du diamant à basse température

La présence de diamants à 4 GPa et 900 K a été mise en évidence grâce à des expériences dans la presse multi-enclumes. Ces observations inédites permettent d’expliquer le fait que l’on trouve des diamants dans des terrains métamorphiques

Un impact non-linéaire des glaciations sur l’érosion des Alpes

Une étude publiée récemment par Apolline Mariotti (post-doctorante au CRPG) et ses collègues dans le journal Nature Geoscience (Mariotti et al., 2021) lève le voile sur la manière dont les variations climatiques modifient l’érosion des montagnes, en mettant en évidence le rôle clef de la vitesse d’écoulement des glaciers

Des pierres taillées témoignent d’une occupation humaine précoce du Brésil

Des chercheurs du LSCE ont participé à la datation d'objets archéologiques découverts par la Mission franco-brésilienne de l'État de Piauí, dans le nord-est du Brésil. La présence humaine y est attestée depuis au moins 24.000 ans et positionne donc l'occupation sud-américaine comme antérieure aux sites connus en Amérique du Nord

Première carte des retombées radioactives en Amérique du Sud

Une étude menée par le LSCE, en collaboration avec ses partenaires de l’INRAE et plusieurs universités du Brésil et d’Uruguay, a fourni la première carte des retombées radioactives consécutives aux essais nucléaires des années 1960 en Amérique du Sud
